can anyone tell me if the red sea max 250 has a ATO built-in i cant seem to find out on there web site.

No it does not. I just set my 250 MAX up yesterday there is a nice cut out in the rear of the hood ready for one to be installed.

I was going to put one on but I heard nightmare stories of them failing causing entire setups to crash. IMO.. mannual top off is better becuase it almost forces you to check and make sure everything is working properly.

Evaporation does not occur as often with the top down but forces you to get a chiller.I have the 130D.What kind of pumps did it come with?

it comes with two ciculation pumps. one rated at 640 GPH and the 2nd at 320 GPH. The skimmer pump cycles through 240 GPH...
