Stung Galaxea

My galaxea colony fell off its perch last night and was stung by a torch. I can see one bone white polyp, and about another 1/4 lost its color and retracted. My question is, can I cut away the dead polyps (all in one corner of the colony) or should I leave it and will new polyps grow over the dead ones?
Appreciate the tips.

If it's a small patch, clean that area off to get rid of the dead tissue and it'll grow back over.
