i would like to recommend (in my opinion) that any retailer on this board should honor the sales they take orders on -- ie if they offer a sale they shouldn't retract the sale price just because they later can't get the price they expected from any certain distributor -- because distributor woes should be behind the scenes. because i know you are reputable, i can just imagine if this happened again, it would be more noble not to cancel or post a message saying you might cancel the sale you offered on account of your distributor changing sale prices on you, again that is between you and your distributor, since retailers are not the same as agents.

grim, he is offering the salt and honoring the original price!
if there was a chance he wouldnt be able to get the salt, he has to let ppl know, he cant just wait for everyone to show up and then say "sorry, i couldnt get it"

there was a chance as a retailer he wouldn't have access to 160 gallon buckets of Instant Ocean Salt?

my view the drama of:

-a Retailer offers a sale to Customers based on a Distributor's sale price

-tells the Customers because of a political issue with a Distributor he can't get his expected price so the deal is off

-decides to refund the money instead of just buy the salt elsewhere from where it is in stock, whether mentioning the issue or slight delay or whatever

HOWEVER if the issue is that there is only ONE distributor in all of NYS that has a MONOPOLY over all the Instant Ocean salt that Retailers supply their Customers with, then i stand corrected and retract the whole view of the drama i mentioned above.

it was just my impressions that just about EVERY distributor has 160 gallon (?)buckets of Instant Ocean Salt in stock.

Grimreefer,

I understand your sentiments. However, I feel like Ronen did the right thing by bringing this to everyone's attention. Something like this affects the whole hobby and that includes you, me and every other person on this board. It seems he was very concerned about the situation and wanted to alert us all because it really did not seem as if it were going to go through, very fair, in my opinion. I understand your reference to professional consumer relationships and communication but I am happy he did not hide this one because eventually it would equal higher prices for all of us, and most of us wouldn't even know why.

Regards,

Eugene

Honesty aside Ronen, members of the board do not need to know what you're going through at all times...we're not investors, we're customers. Any LFS we go into will want to explain the ins and outs of dealing with suppliers, shippers, bad weather, customers, etc, but most times, we're not interested; we just want the best price available. Wherever it is members shop for goods or livestock, it's our money that's being played with.

hmmm... DEEP, ya know, you're 100% right! i guess i was just feeling for the customers that felt they had a sale taken away from them -- and you did the right thing which is get it back for them in the end.

so, yeah that's what makes you better than the other LFS out there, because you are honest and will share whatever is going on behind the scenes. no other business i know of does that, and thats cool. i mean like most pizzarias get mad if you walk in and ask "where do you buy your flour"? or "your flour cost is 20% lower now so take 20% off the slice i just order"... and so on... it's very rare of a retailer to share what they are going through and ON OUR SIDE SCOUTING FOR THE BEST DEALS FOR MANHATTAN REEFS MEMBERS.

a big hug and thank you and of course my apologies for coming off sounding GRIM as a new member. :grumpy:  :tongue1: :grouphug:
