oh i just linked that sub page as a reference, ive seen these in the store and would want them for the decorative purposes in my tank (i would love to start a reef tank but im sure my trigger and puffer would love that even more lol)

the only issue i have with the synthetic ones is the coloring? do they appear natural?

the dead coral will be covered with algae in no time, and you'll have to bleach it to clean it, and it will be awhile before you can put it back in the tank. Depending on which 'fake' coral you buy, you might get a piece that looks somewhat 'natural'... Maybe you could have a small island of live rock, looks good, helps filter the water, and gets you ready for that reef tank, you so desperately desire!

hmm yea, i was going to add it to diversify the tank and move some of my smaller live rock pieces to my sump... would coraline and the "good"algae grow on these "Dead"pieces?

I agree and support everything Albano said.

Dry coral is actually illegal in some places. It is no different than ivory.

The decorative 'replica' coral look great and are more appealing than dead coral every day of the week. Besides, those who aren't into the hobby and just look at your tank wouldn't know the difference anyway.
