Palytoxin is why I don't keep zoanthids. It's too bad because they're beautiful corals but I'm not risking my family's health to keep them in my tank.

Since palytoxin is so potent and there are so few incidents logic would dictate that either this toxin is not in the majority of the zoas that are kept or it?s rarely released under normal circumstances. Nevertheless one should still be careful and respect zoas and all living things.

Cleaning his tank or killing his zoas ? I think he was taking some out and killing them thats when they are deadly. I cut over hundreds of zoas and never had this problem. use safety glasses thro

Your logic is correct, because palytoxin is found in a palythoa. Not a zoanthid, there is a good read here about the difference between the two.
