This is why corals don’t have sand on them.

Dr Pim Bongaerts shot this video and published the accompanying article showing quite clearly how corals are able to remove the sand that they inevitably get covered in.  Our perspective of time doesn’t really allow for us to see the method, but when you zoom down to the world of the coral, cover it with some sand, you don’t have to wait long before they will start clearing themselves off.  Check out the VIDEO.
