Slow motion pistol shrimp attack hits 4000⁰C! – Slo Mo #14 – Earth Unplugged

Despite its size the pistol shrimp packs a serious punch. One mighty claw shuts so fast it rips apart water, making a stunning implosion and one of the loudest noises in the ocean. It’s the fastest thing the team have filmed, so they’re cranking up the frame rate!

Check out this great video of a pistol shrimp initiating its super fast attack, courtesy of BBC Earth.  In order to capture it, the camera was running at 10,000 frames per second!
