The Green Bay Aquarium Society (GBAS) is proud to announce that we are fundraising this year for Rising Tide Conservation. 100% of monies raised by auctioning certain designated auction lots by GBAS will go towards this fund.
“This is such a great opportunity,” said John Moyles GBAS President. “We, as a club, feel that is important to give back to the aquatic community by supporting conservation efforts and captive breeding, Rising Tide does both.”
The Green Bay Aquarium Society (GBAS) will hold its Fall Auction on Sunday October 21st, 2018 at the Starlite Club, W2091 County Rd JJ, Kaukauna, WI 54130.
Seller set up begins at 9:00 am and the bidding starts at 10:30. The event is free, open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be available on site.
GBAS is a non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to further the study of all forms of aquatic life, to promote interest, exchange ideas, and distribute information concerning the aquarium hobby, and to encourage the display of aquatic life. The auction supports this purpose by providing an outlet for area hobbyists to rehome the fish and corals they have propagated and/or to find varieties of corals and other aquatic life not readily available at area stores. New and used equipment will also be available as well as door prizes and raffles.
GBAS maintains several public aquariums, including those at the Brown County Central Library. Club meetings are held each month at 1000 Islands Environmental Center in Kaukauna.
Rising Tide Conservation is dedicated to developing and promoting aquaculture of marine ornamental fish through the collaborative efforts of researchers, public aquaria, hobbyists, and conservation groups. By developing and sharing aquaculture methods, Rising Tide Conservation aims to increase the number of aquacultured marine ornamental fish species available to public aquaria and commercially to hobbyists. Aquaculture provides a sustainable alternative to wild fish collection, which can stress wild fish populations and damage the coral reefs where they live.www.risingtideconservation.org
