The Acropora solitaryensis is a very unique acropora species. The true solitaryensis is only exported to the US market from Indonesia. The coral grows solid thick plates that are similar in shape to plating Montipora species. The difference of course is that Acropora polyps are larger in size then Montipora polyps. There are also a couple of other Acropora species similar to A. solitaryensis. One is the Acropora effluorescens and the coral we call A. soltaryensis may indeed turn out to be the A. effluorescens. The most colorful species and morph of A. solitaryensis has purple colored edges with bright green fluorescing polyps. Reeffarmers.com has received fragments of two Acropora solitaryensis.
