Another version of the delicately branched deepwater dragon Acropora SPS corals. The Pink Dragon Tails Acro has a more open secondary branching morphology. Best described as an open branching staghorn-like coral. Coloration is very similar to the original Red Dragon Acropora, but the color is lighter and more toward the pink side of the spectrum. Polyps are bright pink colored. The deepwater dragon Acropora have a very low density of polyps. Some secondary branchlets consist of an elongated smooth tubular branch with a single axial corallite at the end of the branch. Photo and text courtesy of Reeffarmers.
