A large grouper that reach about 18-24 inches. Unlike other groupers it has a small mouth so it can’t swallow larger fish. Because of this you can put non-aggressive or small fish with it and not worry, as long as the fish can’t fit into its mouth. Small juveniles start out looking very white and have red dots; in time they will change over to the adult colors. Some people keep small ones in reef tanks. They will eat any invertebrate or small fish that they can get in their mouths, so care needs to be taken and they do grow fast.
