this rock was in the refugium of my 55gal tank so there have been no preditors to get to it. any idea what the clearish tubes are or the whitish tube w/ reddish tips are?

Are there bristle like projections at the end of the tubes? If there are, they are Sycon sponges, but it doesn't really look like from the shots.

no bristles. i know what sponges you are talking about. there where those sponges in there too.

they are like clear water sacs. or you know how if you take an orange apart...there are those sacs or fluid...that is what they look like. they squirted/burted when touched/pushed.

Yep...they are tasty morsels for anything that can reach them. LOL Mine grew fast and were eaten even faster.

nothing is eating them yet.

have 2 clowns, firefish, 4 red hermits, 10snails and a cleaner shrimp. what eats them??

I'm not totally sure what ate mine. I had blamed the hermits.

I do know that these are filter feeders similar to sponges. I wish I could have saved some of mine, I thought they were quite beautiful.
