Worm ID?

Hi,

I'm trying to identify a worm that lives in one of the liverocks in my tank. It is over an inch long (does not come out all the way from the hole, so who knows how long it is), it looks a little like a bristleworm, without the bristles. It seems to be dark in color, but I can only view it at night with my infrared camera. At one end, which seems to be the mouth it opens up and has short appendages that come out, maybe a dozen or so. Any ideas would be appreciated, I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

(Just so you know, I'm writing this from my father's prespective, he doesn't know English well and I'm trying to translate as best as I can, I also have zero knowledge about reeftanks.)

I think I have something similar. Noticed it about a week ago when I was looking at my tank with a flahlight.

I can only see this "worm" when the lights are off. It's very skinny and seems to come out of the live rock. It has black and white stripes and a furry mouth like you describe.

Took a picture, but it wasn't not very clear, not sure if I kept it.

Maybe if you can post the pic you have of your worm, I can let you know if it's the same as I have.

Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like a peanut worm. They're good to have. I've got a few in my tank. I've seen up to 3 inches of one of them. They're very light sensitive, and will "collapse" back in on themselves to retreat from any light source.
