These recently popped up out of a piece of my Bali Live rock. The tubes are about 1/2 cm in diameter and the polyps are about 1 cm tall and wide when expanded.

You said that WORD!

But, I have to agree with you.
Do they walk like Aiptasia?
Do they talk like Aiptasia?
Do they poop like Aiptasia?

If so, then they must be Aiptasia.

Or, it's a pretty close resemblance.

I would almost deffinetly say not aptasia, they apear to have a hard base to them and all radiate from a central point, thus resembling more of a coral species rather then an anemome.

Look like harmless rock anemones to me.

Hey, jcm1229: I'm sitting in, and grew up in Park Ridge, NJ. Back when I was graduating college, I was offered an interview with a pretty high-end investment company asking me to come to the Chicago office for an interview. They mis-read and thought I was in your town, not here!

Actually, these really look like a nice little kind of coral polyp that I got a whole bunch of on some florida ("gulf coast"?) live rock a couple of years ago... they seem to be quite prominent on some of these live rocks, and as far as I was concerned, they looked really nice, especially in great numbers, and they had this slight orange color...

Definitely NOT Aptasia, these things have white spots on the tentacles... aptasia don't... plus these DO NOT multiply like the weed that aptasia is... not to mention stinging everything else in sight!!

Hmmm... I have seen these things too in the pet store the other day when I was looking for Live Rock. One of the Rocks had them. I was wondering if they are bad or good things. One question.. sorry it's a newbie question... What is Aptasia.. is it good to have in a reef tank with clowns.. or is it more of a "weed" type thing that is a pest. Sounds like Aptasia is a bad thing..
