New Reefer
hi,

i got some shaving brush the other day that came from florida, i was looking at my tank the other day, and noticed a worm, that seemed to have tentacles, that looked like little worms. it was waving around in the current. i turned out the light and went to bed. when i woke up in the morning, i looked in the tank, and the worm thing had moved about 2 inches away from the shaving brush and around small rock. the total length of the worm is approximately 1/2inch long and about a peppermint shrimp tentacle's width width. it has about 15 or more little worm head coming from it at one end. its kinda brownish orange.

sorry to sound so confusing, i hope i covered everything possible since i dont have a picture of it. what is it?

thanks,
michael

It sounds like a small feather duster to me. It is not jarmful and actually quite cool. It will eventually build a leather-like tube, which the body will reside in and the crown, or 'heads', stick out to catch food. If you have any fish it is very vulnerable since he is likely to become dinner without the protection of the tube, which he can retract into.

Also possible it's a spaghetti worm - terbellid. Highly beneficial in cleaning sandbed.

Sounds more like a spaghetti worm to me too. They're in the Hitchiker's FAQ.
