Mantis shrimp?

Is this a mantis shrimp in the larvae stage, got it out of some new live rock, but also have another one in the tank with other live rock.

No, it's an adult stage amphipod. It's a great shot that should be put in our Hitchhiker Guide.

Yes they are harmless
and they provide a great food source for all sorts of fish. Mandarin and dragonets particularly Keep him and hope he reproduces as much as he can

It is one of those "beach flees"... very common in beaches and even gardens.

Shawn, it looks like your photo may be used to help others identify their animals. I think the Administrators might approach you for its use. The Hitchhikers Guide needs better pictures, you are the start.

Thanks everyone, I took ten pictures to finally get a good one, I used a magnafying glass and took the picture thru it. I would like to put it on the hitchhikers guide. Will the administrators contact me by e-mail or do I have to give them more info?
