Hi,

Can anyone help me identify what these worm tube things are? They seem to be spreading throughout my live rock and I'm a bit concerned they will completely take over in the long term.

Also here is a picture of what I think is some sort of sponge. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Once again, your help is appreciated .. for the record Dr. Ron said #2 was most likely a sponge as is possible with #1, but he wasn't sure.[/img]

Both are some form of sponge (possibly a form of tunicate in the first pic of first post, large pic in 2nd post..) - Both are quite common and a sign of good tank health.. The populations of the tube-like creatures will wax and wane periodically but usually they will only be found in the lower-light regions of your tank, sump, skimmer, etc....

Neither are anything to worry about at all.

Congrats and welcome to reefing! (And yes, I asked the same question just a couple years ago myself.. )
