Flat worm? Or worse? Or better?

I don't have a pic of what I'm trying to ID, but I think I can describe it adequately. The other day I picked up a LR that had been in my tank for about 24 hrs and noticed somthing on the bottom. Comming out of the bottom of the rock, and I assume INTO the substrate, was somthing that looked like a hollow rubberband.... same color... and texture. It extended about 1 inch from the bottom of the rock. The end is open and the whole thing is kinda flat... it isn't round. All together I didn't care touch it.

Needless to say.. I quickly put the rock back.

Any ideas?

Without a pic I think you're just going to have a lot of puzzled faces trying to figure out what you're trying to describe..
