I noticed this thing on my LR today. It was stretched out about 1.5 inches.. from a hole in the rock. It is very pale.. almost clear looking in appearance.. is about the diameter of 6lb fishing line. I know its hard to see in the picture, but at least it helps with identifying the color of the organism. It is the horizontal whittish line inside the red circle.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, but I can't really tell what you are looking at. Give us some description to place alongside the picture and maybe we can lend a hand.... Does it actively move or is it stationary?

My first guess is spaghetti or medusa worm. It could possibly be a peanut worm as well.

If it is stationary, it is likely a part of a sponge.

OK.. inside the red circle is a white line .. somthing like a spread out "v" thats the worm.. He's quite thin... moves around quite a bit.. like he's scouring the rock or somthing. I think all the pic will be good for is color referance......although if you saw him in person .... you'd likely not be able to see much more than is in the pic.

Peanut worms tend to have 2 tentacles poking out taht creep about the rock. Medussa have more than that... so its likely one of those two and most probably a peanut worm.

Good things to have as they are harmless detritivores.
