I got this coral from a frag trade. The owner told me that it's a bubble coral, but it doesn't look like one. Can you please confirm...

Yep, a Plerogyra. You may need to feed this one since it is receding a bit. They should be fed anyways. Small bits of marine meat 2-3 times weekly, if not more often. Jen

How small? Say, 1/8"? 1/4"? 1/2"? And how? Just put it between the bubbles? During the day or at night?

That is a "Pearl Bubble Coral" (Physogyra sp. ) by far one of my favorite corals. Give it strong light, medium current, and occasionally chopped krill. It's a pretty aggressive coral, so give it pleanty of room.
Other then that it's a pretty easy coral to care for.
