Soft Coral sold as a COLT but...

Had this bad boy for 8 years... Much income for me over those years via pruning: But what is it? Pictures of Colts never look like this to me. I've an idea but like to hear from you all.

Does the surface of the trunks feel slimy and smooth or is it more plastic-like with little areas that almost feel like they are going to catch your skin a bit. Under the bright lights, can you see internal needle-like structures in the trunk less than an inch long?

The reason that I ask is that there are some few Nepthids that we can keep in our tanks and while that is a great picture, it is not good enough to positively id it. You might ping one of the experts around here too. (Eric B)

Some Capnellas also color up differently under different light.

The main trunks actually catch your skin if you run your finger along it. Also, when I'm cleaning the glass at that end of the tank, it feels as though you are getting very lightly stung. I'll look closer tonight when I get home.
