Actually the coral was dying from an overheated garage event. Anyway, I took this home to try and frag a piece of the living off (hey, it was free!), but didn't get a chance before it was totally dead. There's this neat little white crab on the coral, so I'm planning on keeping it in the tank until I can get a new piece of coral for it to live on.

Well anyway, There are these 2 things that I see now. They look like some kind of anemone or something. One has dropped off an is on my substrate. the other is still inside the branched of the dead coral...

Any ideas what these mght be? Good or Bad? Keep or Kill?
Thanks!

AKA Majano anemones. Since those are easy to get rid of I suggest ditching the anemone and gravel/coral they are attached to.

Majano anemones can reproduce very quickly and over run a tank. They sting clam mantles, corals, etc. They are usually not as bad as Aiptasia but they can be.

Having said that I take care of a tank that has had a single one for 4 years without splitting. Go figure. :D

They have recently begun multiplying steadily in my tank. Stupid things will not go away... I've tried removing them many times, and like Aiptasia they do replicate when you don't get them all. They also seem to spread to somewhat disparate locations readily (dunno how!).

Def. worth it to get rid of them when they occur.
