This little creature is on a shell at work. It is a little squishy and I have not seen it move.

Any ideas??

It appears to be a species of colonial tunicate.

If they are tunicates they are filter feeders and need a nutrient rich system, supplement by daily feedings of phytoplankton and zooplankton ( DT's Oyster Eggs), etc.
