So is this stuff good or bad to have in the tank, so far all that is in the tank is a lawn mower blenny until we move up to VA. Also what is the best way to move live rock and fish if it is only a 3-4 hour move
It really isn't good or bad. Some types of valonia can clog high flow places where light hits (the outlet on return pumps or powerheads) but they are fairly easy to clear off as well. Won't hurt anything though.
Re: moving things... just place the LR in a bucket or buckets with soaked newspaper laying over the top of it. Won't hurt a thing. I'd recommend a few inches of water in the bottom so that any critters trying to leave can land in the water and possibly survive.
Fish are a bit trickier, but should be fine in sealed 5G buckets or bagged like you get them from a fish store. Just don't leave them sealed too long and don't let the temperatures get too high or low.
looks like you have several different types of bubble algae. Is it bothering you? I kind of like a variety of things in my tank as long as they stay under control.
I have the red Valonia and this type indeed doesn't bother a thing. It stays in dark places (why?!), like under the rim of the tank or further down in the overflow. I kind of like it.
