my bf found this dude in my newly establishing tank, I removed him in fear it may be a cone snail.

sorry for the blurry pic, but my camera is a dodgy cheap one.

it has a long snout which extends and moves around, and two smaller stalks out either side. it has a long black shell with smaller white specks winding around the shell near the tip of the shell. the flesh is black. the opening on the shell only reaches half way.

Need a much better picture of the aperture (opening of the shell).
The aperture of the shells of the Family: Conidae are narrow and oblong with a very small operculum (lid).
Also like conches they inhabit the substrate but only their siphons are visible.
Trying to ID Gastropods by color of their shell is almost impossible.
