so i just started my first salty tank about 2 weks ago. i have 16 lbs of fiji tonga mix in my 12 gallon nano and just spotted this little clear tube its about a 1/2 inch long and clear but i can see something in it. its too small for my camera to pic it up. and clues if you have questions ask away i want to know what to do with it.

does it look like this?
faq_vermetid.jpg

That is a vermetid snail. Sometimes they can be kinda clear when they are small. They are totally harmless.

Actually, just about anything "tube like" you commonly find on figi live rock is harmless! :D

no it doesnt look like that but today i saw something extend from it. it was thinner than the main tube and it was exploring the rock around it like it was looking for a snack any ideas???? :?:

i have tube worms, which emit a long whitish probe, that picks things up that are close, however, they are not in clear cases. the tube worms i have have cases that appear to be made of a calcium substance. white in color. the case is rigid. you can break them off if you want to.
if these are the things you speak of, they are fine. no problemo.

nope case is flexible not clear like glass but i can see something dark inside. tank is still fairly new so we'll see what it grows up to be

The flexible clear tube sounds like the tube of a chaetopterid polychaete worm. Do a google image search on Spiochaetopterus and Phyllochaetopterus and see if the tubes match what you have.
