New Reefer
Hi,

I'm trying to get a picture of this thing (I saw two of them yesterday, but didn't have the camera ready at the time), but I'll give a brief description. They're about 1/4" long, basically worm shaped, but they're swimming in the water column. The swimming is VERY interesting - basically spinning spirally, and moving rather quickly. I'll get a pic ASAP, but I'm obviously curious as to what this is - I'm paging through the hitcher archives here and have yet to find anything similar.

Thanks!
Marty

Impossible to say without a picture as most swimming marine worms swim with a corkscrew motion.

Thanks for the replies - it's been several days, and they haven't reappeared. I'll keep watching, obviously, and get a pic ASAP (if possible...)

Odds favor it being a reproductive swarmer, which I have a few examples of within my hitch hikers page(worm section). Hope it is of use to you.

Chuck

likely a 'zip worm' , the reproductive 'organ' of bristleworms
