It's not a crab. Those two little black things across from one another are it's eyes. It's head was actually poking out of the water. It's in the HT right now but I'm wondering if i can put it in the tank that's already up and running.
What about the crab?

Can you post of photo of it laying on its back? An underside view would help alot. My first best guess is that its a type of "decorator" crab.

After a bit of a search within crab family groups, I think I can safely say that it is a crab, and most likely in the Pisidae or Majidae families.

spiders and crabs are similiar in many ways ;)

that looks almost like a decorator crab, though at the apparent size, could still be a larval form before adult body morph of any of alot of species.
