I'm talking about the Yellow spongish looking thing.

Thanks for the help.

The brown Palythoa comes from the Sea of Cortez

Looks like some kind of macro algae to me.

It has a tube like structure to it. Resembles a Sea Squirt...it may even be a Sea Squirt but I'm not positive.

I have never seen a green sea squirt. I've had macro that closly resembled what you have there.

BTW

It's more of a bright yellow color, but I'll go with your assessment. It's safe I take it? :)

Porifera (sponge).
The second picture is quite a bit better. My guess without seeing more detail would be a boring species of sponge. They can kill corals by crowding them out.

Any suggested removal methods? Is there a critter that feeds on this?

From that second picture I agree with Mario that it is some sort of sponge.

If it is a boring sponge many critters that consume sponges will also consume your polyps. Keep an eye on it to see if it overgrows the polyps and remove it manually by scraping it off.
I'd still like to see a more detailed picture.

I'm trying. :) My new Rebel XTi has a broken flash already and I don't have the lens to get in there that tight, but here's a couple more.

sponge.. just pull the rock out if possible and take a knife and cut the sponge off. removing them isn't rocket science.

I would get it off your coral if possible. i just had a nice brain die for no aparent reason. The onl smoking gun was a sponge much like that one on the underside... not sure if it had anything to do with it or not. I have heard that if they die off they can foul the water and kill corals.

That's what I wanted to hear. I'll remove it once I return from out of town so I can watch the tank after. Luckily it's only on the one piece of coral and hasn't spread yet...although I can see it trying to move to another piece of LR.

That was much easier than I thought it would be. The sponges popped right off the rock.

My Palythoa looks much happier now.

That is actually a "yellow spongue" I have like ten of them in my tank. I finally ran across them on the internet and even though they are neon green they are called the yellow sponge I dont know the genus. THey are actually pretty and add a nice neon green color to the tank. Mine arent growing on anything but rock though.
