Can someone please help me with an ID on this worm/slug. I'm just setting up my tank and have not put any coral in as yet, so I'd like to make sure this little fella is reef safe. It is about an inch across and has four antennae at one end (top of the photo).

Need a better closer picture but it's a genus and species of flatworm. Most likely it will starve to death as most are highly prey specific as one genus and species will feed on tunicates, another sponges, another algae, and another other species of flatworms, etc.

Thanks for the ID David.

I managed to get another couple of photos of him last night. I've only seen him twice now, he tends to stay hidden most of the time, but when he does come out he is fairly well camouflaged. I've attached another photo for your viewing.

Many Thanks, Scott.

Nudibranches are easier to ID than Flatworms but I would venture to say this could be a member of the Family: Planoceridae and possibly of the Genus: Paraplanocera.
I'll try to dig a little deeper tomorrow after work.

I can't think of any flatworm with 4 tentacles, only with 2. It's a sea hare in the family Aplysidae, Dolabrifera dolabrifera. This species is common in tropical waters worldwide. It's an herbivore so you don't have to worry about any corals. It might be a problem only if you want to cultivate algae. Check out the Sea Slug Forum for more information:

Thanks Leslie, I had a look at the forum that you suggested and it is defitately a sea hare.

Thanks again, Scott.
