New Reefer
I was at hilton head this last week and on the last day I found a purple/lavender/pinkish mushroom like coral on the sand. Just on a chance put it in water and took it home. The foot or stem is off center and at first looked like a leaf. The bottom of the foot looked like it had been torn from a larger organism like a branch or something and is currently 1 1/2-2 inches long. The top is not roundish like a mushroom but slightly heartshaped. It has clear goroanian like polyps that have come out on the surface of the coral . the foot gets larger as it gets to the top and is tubular looking. I have it sitting isolated. Does anyone have any ideas?

Look up sea pansies, genus Renilla. The heart-shaped body & presence of a stem are typical for the genus.
