After day 45, I noticed two Keyhole Limpets appeared.

At least I know my rock has something in it! :D

Hey, thanks for the post. I saw a few of these things on my rocks last night and couldn't take a picture because I was out of batteries. I saw this post, searched for keyhole limpet in google, voila......just was I have.

Do you know what they eat?

Algae, if I recollect, maybe some other stuff stuck to the rock surfaces.

Mine slooowly move over the rock and seem content enough eating what they find.

At first I was unsure of their identity, but the Hitchhiker FAQ has a photo of them too.

I thought I remeber reading somewhere that even though they predominantly eat algae, they have been known to occasionally eat at the bases of corals. Anyone else here this. I have collected them off our coast, but I quit putting them in my tank because of that.

I read somewhere online that they might nibble on soft corals. It might take them all year to get across the tank to do so though (mine have only move an inch in two days)!!!
