for those alittle more advanced, I diy'ed a phosban reactor out of an old di/ro. Modified the internal canisters (took out the felt on the bottom and top) for waterflow. I used an mj600, an mj1200 and a higher output pump. I can not get the GFO to tumble! i reversed the lines into the DI/RO. I also aquired an aquamedic phospate filter and tried that, still no tumble. does it matter if the gfo tumbles? any ideas?

i have to break it down, the cartridges are spectrapure, they had some type of felt/cotton on the bottom and top. I removed both top and bottom. i placed a foam disc ontop to allow only water to flow, not the gfo, and on the bottom where the cap is, i used mesh from a charcol nylon bag. the water flows on the outside down and thru the cartridge. i also have the aquamedic set up the same way, no tumbling. i thought it might be not enough flow and tried a large mag drive

Sounds like u got it right. I run ROWAphos and no problem with tumbling...
Tapped off my return pump. Valve just barely open.

Only thing I can think of is the flow is backwards

i tried the flow both ways, i have a feeling it might be the gfo, its the only thing i can figure. presently have pura phoslock. i have a container of BRS. i will give that a shot tomorrow. the mag should be blowing it all over, but its just sitting there. round 5 here we go.
