This plate coral has thrived in current tank without issue for over 1 yr.

10 days ago, noticed "small speck". Since then, gradually receding to current state - please see attached photo.

I performed dilute iodine dip today.
I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions on additional treatment options.
I was considering preparing a vit c paste to apply to 'defect' but unsure what to use as 'paste substrate'.
(I dose my tank with vit c)

background.
125 gal reef - 1.5 yrs established
all params checked 3 days ago, all well within acceptable 'reef' standards
all other coral and livestock healthy. perform 10% changes weekly. next on due in 2 days.

any suggestions appreciated.
Thank You in advance.

to me looks like some sort of parasite is eating him from the inside. have you tried a dip in hydrogen peroxide? I've dipped corals in 3% hydrogen peroxide for up to 3 minutes with no adverse effects and it kills any bug on them. I usually use it to kill algae and when I get new pieces.
