Definetly a great read, but I'm still wondring if inorganic phosphates such as tap water soaked LR will disrupt calcification.. Being that I have these horribly phosphate filled lr that I know isn't organic phosphates because stronium nitrate has no affect on it..

It will most definately disrupt calcification.

You should get new rock, especially since you are into SPS. Or you should consider swapping out your rock 1/3 at a time, cooking it in a tub with a skimmer attached without light for a couple of months then putting it back and moving on to the next group. Granted your tank will be in limbo for quite awhile but in the long run you will be better off than phosphate "soaked" rock.

It is amazing how old rock will cause problems to an enclosed system.

Thanks ShaunW. In the last couple of weeks I have noticed that the level is coming down.. It's currently at 0.80 on my low range photo meter it was at 2.50 the max back in June.. This is from adding a calcium reactor onto the display tank andcontinuos water changes.. The new display is now running with 2 powerheads I thought about adding Gfo but will hold off until 1 week before I add fish and corals to the tank..

Zeovit Supplements can be added to tanks that aren't running the Zeo System. Supplements such as Pohl's Xtra, B-Balance, Iron, Potassium, Pohl's Coral Vitalizer, SPS Aminos, Coral Snow. These can all be used and with a little trial and error with dosing, your SPS WILL color up significantly. For example, Iron supplementation will increase green coloration, Stylo-Pocci Glow will increase Reds in those corals, B-Balance will increase coloration, Pohl's Xtra is a phenomenal product that will show results in all of your corals. Most of these products are used after one has reached phase 3 of the Zeo system which is canvasing your tank (or color paletting your tank) but they can also be used in regular systems. ZeoSpur2 is what you have to watch out for. And if your not using a zeo system DO NOT dose Zeospur2, Zeobak, etc... These are ULNS products and are for more experienced systems. Anyway, just thought I'd chime in.
