Hi Everyone

I am in desperate need of a new tank. I currently have a 150 that I got from a guy on ebay two years ago. I started hearing crackling sounds recently from my tank and noticed that the center brace gave way and broke off near the front. I currently have a home depot 2 foot clamp on the tank where the center brace broke but it is putting pressure on the sides of the tank, I see little bubbles forming in the siliconed sides and I just noticed a hairline crack on the lower right front panel.

I will be emptying my tank now and was wondering if anyone had any good experiences with buying tanks online or in stores. My current tank measures 2'deep x 4'wide and about 33 inches deep. I was looking at glasscages but not sure if they are any good. I would like to keep the similat dimensions. Maybe a 120 (48 x 24 x 24)

Thanks in advance. I dont think I will be sleeping tonight! Please help!

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear about this. I had a problem with a tank cracking, too - it was an Oceanic. I'd say the problem with my tank, though, was not the make but rather, the fact that the tank was not properly leveled.

As long as the tank has a warranty and is new, you're likely to be fine, though there are horror stories wherever you look. If you buy a used tank, you can never be sure what you're getting...

my advice to you, though, is that no matter what you do, you be sure as heck that the tank is level!

Best of luck! In a pinch, you can keep your things in a smaller system with lots of water motion till you get your new and wonderful tank set up.

Sorry you won't be getting much sleep tonight!

(btw, when my 58 blew out, I kept all my fish and corals in a 20 gal with a few powerheads and a HOB protein skimmer for almost a year...)

Good luck!

I have some spare 50's if you need to borrow them temporarily.
They're drilled, but have bulkheads that can be capped.
Email me if you need to borrow one.
I also sent the post to a friend of mind who's selling a 150.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the encouraging words and advice!!! Much appreciated!

Mike,
Thanks for the offer. I have ordered fish from you on numerous occasions and they have been great! My livestock will be sitting in a few brutes until I get a new tank.

I will try my local petland for a 120.

If you cannot get the corals into a smaller container, then

do you have 2x4 wood?

if so, come over to Flushing. I can lend you 2' and 3' clamps. call me before 1:00am

-wrap the wood with foam underlayment and sandwich the tank's bottom first.
-do the same at the top before releasing the old clamp.
-get one more set of woods for the very top covering the place where the old clamp was. Add the clamps across the top.
-so you will need 3 sets of 2x4 wood that are 4 feet long
-I would have enough clamps for you until you get your new tank.

Lower the water as much as you can for now to lower the pressure at the bottom of tank.

I also have a 20G long and 30G that I can lend/sell you immediately.
