Can someone list off the genus of corals commonly named chalices? I know echinophyllia, oxypora, mycedium .... what else? And which ones are the ones with the nasty sweeper tentacles?

Can't answer the first part (the chalice craze is news to me), but echinophyllia is definitely a producer of sweeper tentacles. The one I kept threw out ones 10" or so long on rare occasions.

Anyone know what genus the famous "watermelon chalice" is? It produces no sweepers but it also doesn't resemble oxypora, mycedium, or echinopora to me either (well, maybe echinopora).

BTW charles, I know exactly what you're feeling. I started my new aquarium and was surprised by the LPS craze.

To me it looks like Echinophyllia aspera.
But a search came up with Mycedium elephantotus, and a vauge Mycedium sp. and Echinophyllia sp. ?
