I would have waited till the cycle was fully completed, as you may cause a shift in the population desnity of the nitrifiers.

Agreed...Let the population grow out. IMO, vodka dosing should be done when the tank is at least 6 months old. It's just a matter of the system stabilizing itself. During the beginning months, with all of the complications with brown algae, hair algae, etc, you just don't wanna make things more unstable with vodka dosing.
