When I test aquarium water with a new Salifert nitrate test kit I show a result of 50ppm, when I test with Pinpoint digital nitrate probe I get a result of 10.5. Probe is freshly calibrated. I've had this happen on 2 separate aquariums.

Could there be interference? Is pinpoint accurate?

Thanks

Also how accurate are the results from aquariumwatertesting.com? As my results with Salifert never seem to match theirs, especially Calcium and Nitrate.

Thanks

I did some work/testing for Lou Dell on his Nitrate meter and found out it does not express Nitrate as Nitrate but as Nitrate-Nitrogen. So, you need to convert.

1 ppm Nitrate-Nitrogen, NO3-N = 4.4 ppm Nitrate, NO3

So;
10.5 x 4.4 = 46.2 ppm Nitrate, NO3 Vs Salifert 50 ppm Nitrate, NO3. Close enough to say they are the same based on the accuracy of either.

aquariumwatertesting.com?

DO NOT waste your money there.
