Used up all my brs 2 part and switched to esv b ionic last night...i cut the dose down ever so slightly, in hopes the change wouldnt be so drastic. Came home to 2 pieces of sps with rtn issues. Just curious if the switch may have triggered it. I havent had the chance to test my levels yet.

IMO using 2 part is not an ideal way to dose a Sps tank it creates to much of a swing unless used in a doser. I know people do use it and it can be used effectively but it takes a lot of testing. If your doing a all Sps I would seriously look into a reactor. Had mine for 9 months now and couldn't be happier. It can be your issue or a sudden temp swing it was real hot today

To many people in that past 3 months have killed there tank using dosers due to all swings so I don't like them? For a 50 gallon they make nano reactors with 1 chamber so it's a little more price efficient. Just my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. I am so comfortable with my reactor knowing its hooked to my controller and nothing terrible will happen unless my PH probe is messed up. But dosing 2 part now may have caused your issue

Great I just about finished my ESV two part and just received BRS two part. I thought I was doing the right thing and saving money. Well if my Sps 90 gal tank goes drastic I'll let you know. Check your Ph because Esv does not effect PH. I heard BRS can have effect on raising Ph.

I've switched from ESV to DIY recipe (baking soda for alk and BRS calcium chloride for calcium) and I didn't have any problems. As I said, the ESV products are much more concentrated so you should recalculate your dosing when switching. As far as raising pH, Soda Ash can raise pH (sodium bicarbonate) while baking soda may lower it (I didn't notice it in my tank though). Hope that helps
