What is the end product if you use seawater/tankwater mixed to a salinity of 35ppt using a commercial salt(Kent) to mix up limewater to saturation with plenty of extra lime on the bottom? What precipitates what doesn't? Do you have any alkalinity left?
Thank You.
You will precipitate lots of calcium and magnesium carbonate, and magnesium hydroxide. If you add it to the point of having excess lime around, then there will be some alkalinity present, mostly in the form of hydroxide. The pH will be fairly high (10+, I expect).
