Tetratest nitrate tests! HELP!

Can somebody help me on a question that i just cant find out anywhere. What does the zinc oxide in the tetratest nitrate tests do? and is it necessary for an accurate test.? Hope someone can help me. Thanks :lol: :roll:

thanks, im sure my test kits were fouled when they froze about a month ago. the new kit i got is reading 0 nitrates. much better that the 80 that kit was showing .much better~! :lol:
