Phosguard

I have read Phosguard can leach Al into a tank.. I tested some at the lab I work at and it contains nearly 50% Al..... can this actullay leach into a tank? Has anyone ever confirmed this?

question: why doesn't the aquarium chemical market use ferric hydroxide (iron rust)? It's super cheap in bulk, and when rinsed, works like a champ. Is there a similar problem with iron leaching into the tank?

It is used. Rowaphos, Phosban, and Phosphate Killer are all iron oxide/hydroxide compounds.
