Hi,
I am looking for a method for measuring total iodine ( I-, IO3-, I2, I-Protein...) in sea water sample. I’m thinking to use a method called Urinary Iodine analysis (I.U) used in in some laboratory. This method involve the spectrophotometric measurement of iodine in the Sandell-Kolthoff reaction. This is an iodine catalyzed reduction of yellow ceric(IV) ions to colourless cerous(III) ions by arsenic reaction which is first order with respect to iodine in acidic conditions.
Did someone have already used this method of analysis to test for total iodine in sea water sample with success??
