Greetings to you again.

The course will officially start on January 14th. Lecture materials will be posted on the first day of each class week. I haven't decided on a chat day and it would be helpful if you all could post what days and time intervals are good for each of you.

There is a really good text book titled "Chemical Oceanography" and written by Millero that you are welcome to pick up if you like but I will be providing chapters (as PDFs) of a similar book written by Emerson. I will also be making references to various articles in Advanced Aquarist. All readings are voluntary.

Each of you, please post regarding good chat times as soon as you are able so we can get things set in stone.

My first preference is Saturday mornings EST, or as early as possible in the afternoons, such as 10 AM EST. (I am in the other side of the globe, Singapore, 13 hours ahead of EST, and do not mind sleeping a little late.)
The worst times for me would be late afternoons or evenings EST, especially on Saturdays, and would appreciate if that these times can be avoided so that I can tune in and participate.
If the suggested hours will not be an inconvenience to the others in the class, it would really help me.
Thank you.

evenings or weekends work for me as well. but more specifically, Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings would be the best.

Tuesday night is open
Saturday, I already have one online class from 2pm to 5 pm.
Sunday is booked w/ work, but I might be able to squeeze a 2 hour class in... late AM or early afternoon might be ok (anything close to lunch time)

Wow, a million replies yesterday!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner but my wife came down with strep and my son has a mild ear infection. They are both doing better today but yesterday was murder.

In case you didn't hit Wade's link, those times are in EST. We can still play with the chat time depending on how many people are inconvenienced by it. So far I see only 6 responses (a 7th was PMed to me) which is only half of our 14 person compliment.

8 - 10PM EST is the middle of the night for me too (1 - 3pm GMT). If it was at the weekend I would try to make some of the chats but must admit that I'm not at my best in the early hours of the morning.

I know it must be a nightmare to find a time thats suits everyone and as a transcript of the chat is available I am happy to go through it the next day and perhaps contribute by email/forum if it helps.

I'm on mountain time so it's 6-8pm but I arrive home from work between 6:30 to 7pm so I'll probably catch half of the chat. I don't see this as a major issue.

If I log onto the site late, will I see the history of the chat?

I plan to make chat transcripts available.

Well, we haven't met our full quota of replies yet but I have enough to take a 2nd look at the chat time. I should have an update posted by the end of the day.

Sundays won't work for me but it seems like Saturday suits many people.

I can do Saturday mornings, afternoons or evenings. Perhaps a late morning time would fit both our national and international students?

How does Saturday 10-12PM sound? Given the late date/time, I am not sure if we should reschedule tonight's chat so it will proceed as announced. If there is sufficient feedback on the newly suggested time, we will switch next week's chat time.

How many of you have taken other online courses?

Majority of the talk was about Saturday or Sunday... having the Chat.
I guess I should have just kept with the first schedule. I can do every Wed. night from now on! So I will be logging in next Wednesday. I have scheduled this time Wed 8-10pm EST on my calendar.
