probably would be a good filter (joke?). diamond filtration.

See crystal head vodka (vodka purified through diamonds).

carbon is very porous though, diamond has no pores, so probably wont pick up much organics. just a cool story for the crystal head vodka

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_Head_Vodka
Co-founded by actor Dan Akroyd, it is stated as quadruple-distilled, triple-filtered through charcoal and triple-filtered through Herkimer diamond crystals

Hi everyone. I KNOW how stupid this sounds, I do. But, can you keep gem stones in your tank? Nothing metallic. Just glass types like Emeralds, Rubys, Amethyst? I know it sound crazy, but I was thinking about a buried treasure themed set-up. Would it matter if these stones are raw or polished?

ALSO (for a different tank) ....

I know that driftwood is not a good idea for SW tanks. It will lower the PH. But is there a way to treat the wood so it would be safe to use (in smaller amounts) in a SW tank? I heard if you let it sit for a while in water it would help (salt or fresh?). Im looking to have a few sticks coming out of holes in a piece of live rock (with a cup coral on top) to use as a feeder station for the seahorses.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
