For more info check out my soft coral fragging guide at:

Or pick up the latest issue at your LFS!

There's no better way to frag green star polyps than by force!

For this I simply knock small sections off of the rock holding the GSP using a hammer and chisel.

This technique may also be used with other soft, matting corals such as zoanthids, palythoas, xenia, anthelia and more.

You should really use a full on facemask if you're fragging zoas this way. Using a hammer and something mildly sharp to frag zoas is a sure fire way to win a darwin award or at the least become famous in reef circles for palytoxin poisoning.

Definitely. I stopped using blunt instruments on zoas and don't miss that worry.
