Glad to here you found a method that works. Actually I used to do it that way myself however I now use rubber bands for gorgonians as well as 95% of all corals I switched because of the time factor and expense. I use 1.25" diameter plugs and 2.5" quality rubber bands. Put the gorgonian on the side of the plug and run the rubber band around the plug twice. Mounting with rubber bands takes some experimentation for each coral type. Proper rubber band size in relation to plug size and coral type makes for success and a super fast way if mounting large number of peices.
