You can physically tear it from the substrate (rock) if you want to... just do it slowly and get a finger or tool under the base when you start. It will recover quickly if left to reattach someplace else.

Another alternative is to chop the entire top off of the coral. The disc can be cut into 10-20 pieces and each one of those pieces, if provided a place against rock rubble that doesn't move, will regrow a new toadstool. Just make sure you use alot of activated carbon on your tank during and after the chopping. Other corals tend not to like it when you cut up softies in the tank with them.

Don't worry about hurting it, those things are very tough!
