HELP!!! Pulsing Xenia Dying

Hello All,

Just recently upgraded to a 54 Gallon Corner (JLAudio's). My Xenia grew GREAT in my 14 Gallon Biocube and Eclipse System 6. But I already lost one whole stock in this tank. I have no idea what is going on because my water parameters are ideal.

I thought it would do better given that I have 2 T5's and a Metal Halide now. I positioned it where there is low to moderate flow and 3/4 high in the tank. Here is a shot of the tank... Any help would be great.

The Xenia has shrunk and I am scared I will lose it. I feed it Cyclopeeze and Phytoplankton...

Xenia is just above the Blue and Yellow Damsel.

I've always found that dying xenia is a sign that there is a problem with my water chemistry. It dies even before my test kits will show that there is a problem.
How is your water levels?
What is the water temp? .... xenia does not like high temp

Water temperature is like 79

Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 25 ppm

xenia sometimes like less than ideal water parameters. i had a colony growing like mad in my skimmerless system. once i added a skimmer to the system the colony slowly declined.

Xenia is just weird man, Mine dies and returns at seemingly random intervals.

I even have two different colonies that came from the same frag that are inches away from eachother that die and prosper at different times.

I love the stuff but wtf.

Believe it or not. When I repositioned it is back! We'll see what happens.

nitrates could be causing your problems as well..


when did you start to add livestock after the transfer?

Wow, I am having some issue. 2 colonies just died out of nowhere. I have two others doing great and water tests out perfect!

Xenia is just odd i guess!
I am keeping eye on everything cause I know it can be a sign but so far so good

also what is your mag level, calcium, and alk?

When my Ammonia and Nitrites were 0

Sg is at 1.024
pH is 8.2-8.4

Don't have test kit for Calcium, Alk, yet. This tank has been up a week so I figure I didn't need it yet.

you need to test all those levels ASAP to know where your tank it at.
